Hipster Similarity #3: Gypsies Eat Weird Shit
When you never know where your next meal is coming from, you learn how to appreciate the food available to you and how to maximize the ingredients that others might throw away. Such necessitated innovation has brought us to the current gourmet obsession with offal, sweetbreads and other traditionally avoided parts of the animal, as well as pretty much all vegan cuisine (no matter what they tell you, George Washington did not eat polenta). Of course, the nomad is motivated by hunger, whereas the hipster is motivated by what's cool, which can be extremely low-class (PBR and street food) or extremely high-class (Yerba Matte-infused, Aztec-chocolate covered Acai berries) but never in the middle (the Bloomin' Onion at Outback Steakhouse).
