The old and shabby Santa Monica complex gets a huge face life and opens as Santa Monica Place. The new "mall", anchored by big stores like Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom, has a gorgeous view of the ocean and Friday-night happy hours. The legion of extraordinary dancers, outer circle crew, and DJs will kick off the opening on Friday. Also premiering, The Mannequin Collective, an original art exhibit that showcases 100+ mannequins made into works of art to benefit Otis College of Art and Design.
