ROCK FOR MS. The fast-paced world of slot-car racing comes together with rock-and-roll history for one day on Saturday, July 24, at the Petersen Automotive Museum to benefit MS Friends, a non-profit that provides 24-hour phone support for people with multiple sclerosis. At 4 p.m., original photographs of the Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan and other rock stars taken and signed by the late, famed photographer Jim Marshall will go to auction - as well as his images of the behind-the-scenes development of the Nissan GT-R. Auto racing stars including Vic Elford and Tony Adamowicz will be on-hand to ’race’ against the public on 13 slot-car tracks brought in by FarrOut Slot Car Racing Club, the largest-ever collection of slot-car tracks in one place. ROCK FOR MS will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with slot-car activities and viewing of the photos throughout the day. Tickets can be purchased at www.msfriends.org or at the door. Prices range from $30 adult general admission and $20 junior general admission, to the $500 Le Mans Experience, which entitles participants to race every track. All proceeds directly benefit MSFriends.
