Sonos and The xx have teamed up to curate “Coexist,” a Sonos Studio exhibition cycle which explores the relationship between man and machine, highlighting the prevalence of technology that blurs the line between the two. The xx selected a series of collaborations from the worlds of music, technology, art, and film for the exhibition cycle which is the latest and most ambitious project to date for Sonos Studio, the acoustically designed listening gallery in Los Angeles that explores the intersection of music, art and technology. The installation, “Missing,” features a field of 50 robotic synchronized Sonos players engineered to follow the movement of visitors, allowing them to physically wander inside the track’s dark emotional landscape--the result is an uncanny yet familiar feeling of being watched and followed by technology. “Missing” debuts Nov. 15 and runs through Dec. 23 at Sonos Studio and is open to the public Wed.–Sun., 12-6pm. At the exhibition opening, there will be a DJ set by Warpaint.
