I play Rachel Cunningham, she’s a freshman in college, and she’s a Mormon girl, she grew up on a polygamist compound, so this is her first time experiencing being around normal teenagers, so she tries to play it cool but it’s very quickly revealed that she’s quite the weirdo. In passing she says ‘I’m a normal girl, I like boys, I read books, I raise chickens’,… all these little things you don’t exactly realize, like she always wears her hair really braided, and by the end of the show she has this big wavy hair, so she’s adapting and changing and she ends up in a bit of a relationship throughout the show, so that’s definitely different than when she was growing up on the compound.
