Last night's launch event for skate/streetwear brand The Hundreds' collaboration with G-Shock at the Belasco Theatre downtown unfolded as a scenario that could probably only happen here in L.A. One in which crazed Odd Future frontman Tyler the Creator, famous as much for making scenes with his radical behavior as he is for his music, was escorted off stage after making a surprise appearance during a Gucci Mane and Soulja Boy performance.

The downtown venue was filled with all sorts of hipsters gone hip-hop, or at least for the night. L.A. punkers Trash Talk were in attendance as were their buddies from the Odd Future crew. In various conversations throughout the room, it seemed like everyone invariably shared the same experience of once having a G-Shock in seventh grade, and for the L.A. natives there, later hanging around the Fairfax "street" kids at 17.

The DJ hyped the crowd late into the night until Gucci Mane came out to share the stage with Soulja Boy, driving the crowd into a wild, loud frenzy. At some point, after performing with his crew at the Project X premiere after party, an unannounced Capri-Sun-sipping Tyler The Creator emerged on stage mid-performance and decided to ride some gnarly crowd surfing waves. This ended with him being forcefully escorted off the stage by three security guards and ejected from the party. Twice. Evidently, this was a night to either go hard or not go at all.
