Newly minted Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (it was formerly known as Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week) kicked off it's 55th year today. To avoid a disastrous overlap with NYFW, the 44 Spanish designers are showing a week earlier than had been previously planned. Here's a few highlights from the opening shows today, including a taste of the civilian style seen on the streets of Madrid.

Some things to say: It's A/W 2013, not 2012 collection. The Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week used to coincide in time with London not NY. I don't know what is the "typical Spanish decadence", but if you want to talk about decadence, maybe you can say that the Jesús del Pozo collection was inspired in decadence, because in Spain, women used to wear these scarves in their hair during 1900-1920, not with a touch Middle Eastern. And the dark desing could be inspirated in the XVII century, because in this decadence time, men used to wear black suits in Spain...
