Walk down Franklin past the UCB theater and you'll find another book store, this one with actual books, lots of them, meant to be read and not just look pretty on your living room nesting tables. Counterpoint's beige interior, and even lighting, is reminiscent of many a rom-com scene, so that can't be a bad thing.
Used books, CDs, and records allow you to pick something up for yourself on the cheap. At the very least, the wide selection will allow you to find out if your date's a Neil Diamond fan or any other deal-breaking or -making musical and literary tastes.
