Slide #3

Drinking At The Bars
Although it's easy to feel left out of all the Christmas festivities, if you look at it a different way, it's kind of like your parents going away for the weekend. Maybe you're a little bummed to be uninvited, but at the same time, there's nobody to stop you from running around in your underwear and raiding the liquor cabinet. By that logic, there's pretty much no reason why you shouldn't be five beers deep by lunchtime. The only real obstacle, of course, is that even bars have families, and most places close early on the 24th and don't open at all on the 25th. But that's okay too, as some killer dive bars (and if you're getting hammered on Christmas, shouldn't it be at a dive bar?), like The Backstage and their West LA sister bar, Mom's, will be open at 11 am. Or hit up WeHo classic Barney's Beanery (their other locations are all open, too) and throw down some cheap beers and a burger (or pizza, or Mexican, or breakfast, or chili, or anything else on their dubiously large menu) from a booth that Janis Joplin probably once passed out in. If you're in Venice, it looks like The Brig and Danny's are open. And if you just feel like going out at night, local favorites Thirsty Crow, Little Cave and Bigfoot Lodge will be open at 8 p.m., as will their Westside counterparts Bigfoot West and Oldfield's. So don't say you don't have options. [via]
