Our Favorite Record Store: Amoeba Music
In a time where the physical record store has become an endangered species (I think the CEO of Sam Goody tried to squeegee my windshield at a red light yesterday), Amoeba Music seems as vital and awesome as ever. How do they do it? Mostly by offering a jaw-dropping selection of new and used vinyl, CD's, tapes and memorabilia, and by hosting several free live mini-shows from big-time acts every week. Although our Amoeba isn't the original (that's in Berkeley), ours is by far the biggest, which means more once-in-a-lifetime DITC finds, more snobby but freakishly knowledgeable employees, and more signature yellow shopping bags.
