Girard-Perregaux Honors Desmond Tutu
Where: LACMA Who Was There: Desmond Tutu, Robert V. Taylor, Jo Champa, Michael Govan, Venanzio Ciampa, Elizabeth Wiatt, Jim Wiatt, Kathy Freston Other Details: Political and social justice minded citizens of L.A. came together at LACMA last night to honor legendary anti-apartheid crusader Archbishop Desmond Tutu at LACMA. Over the course of an intimate discussion with a man often called his protege, author and gay clergyman Robert V. Taylor (the men used Taylor's new book "A New Way To Be Human" as a springboard for their conversation topics), Tutu touched on compelling and topically relevant themes such as gay rights, which Tutu said "is not a choice" and is something a human being should never be penalized for. As a warm moment to end the evening, the Archbishop was presented with a beautiful custom Girard-Perregaux wristwatch with an inscription recognizing him as a "World Achiever."
