Umami Burger
Since opening the first Umami Burger on La Brea in 2009, the restaurant has exploded with locations all over Southern California, plus two in NorCal, another in Miami, and UMAMIcatessen, a gourmet table service dining hall in Downtown L.A. with an extensive menu of specialty items. But what put this place on the map was their interpretations of the traditional burger with ingredients like parmesean crisp and truffle glaze. Umami prides itself on its meat quality and signature namesake ingredient, "the fifth taste"--an amino acid that they say might not be detected when eaten, but plays a very important role making food taste delicious.
