Rich in history, the city of Monterey claims to be the official "first city" of California and is honoring that with the incredible lineup of the First City Festival. The event takes place at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center which has its own music history roots as the site of the famous Monterey Pop Festival of 1967, the first widely-promoted rock fest that featured legends The Who and Jimi Hendrix. Keeping true to its place in music infamy, the lineup is topnotch with MGMT, Modest Mouse and Passion Pit headlining. On top of the amazing live music, the grounds host a full-scale carnival with countless rides and all-day ride passes going for a very reasonable add on price. [
