Slide #3

Neon Beach Ball III by Gray Malin via A lot of your work focuses on beaches and destinations with warm climates, but you recently went to the South Pole for the Antarctica series. What made you decide to go there? What was that like? I had a goal of shooting all seven continents and wanted to bring the ‘beach’ to Antarctica. However, it turned into a much more spiritual experience. The continent is so vast and unexplored I felt like Christopher Columbus, or a real adventure seeker getting to see such a pristine and stunning landscape. I also feel compelled to help raise awareness about shifting climates as we saw so much ice melting and glaciers the size of sky scrapers falling into the water. Did you get to play with the penguins? We couldn’t touch them but they certainly were not shy- they would come right up to you. What's your favorite place you've shot for your work and why? There are so many but I really love the Antarctica shot with the green inner tube against the iceberg because of the level of difficulty the shot entailed.
