Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Location: 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard

History: Cemeteries will always have an ominous vibe to them. This one is no different except for the fact that numerous celebrities of yesteryear, such as Rudolph Valentino, Nelson Eddy, Janet Gaynor, and Clifton Webb, have been laid to rest in its graveyard.

Haunting: Cemeteries are traditionally riddled with stories of hauntings and apparitions. One such mysterious sighting is centered around the grave of Rudolph Valentino. After Valentino's passing in 1926, a woman dressed in black visited his crypt each year and left a bouquet of roses. Since then, a ghost draped head to toe in a black veil has appeared near Rudolph's crypt and many believe she is the ghost of the yearly rose bearing visitor identified as Ditra Flame. When Flame was a young girl she suffered from a seemingly terminal illness. Flame's mother invited her friend, Valentino, to visit her daughter in the hospital. Valentino obliged bringing with him a single red rose and also allegedly told her,

"You're not going to die at all. You are going to outlive me by many years. But one thing for sure - if I die before you do, you please come and stay by me because I don't want to be alone, either. You come and talk to me."

Following Valentino's death, Flame made a complete recovery. Keeping her promise to him, Flame visited his site each year without publicizing her story. She eventually died in 1984 and it is rumored that her ghost is usually spotted around the anniversary of Valentino's death, August 23.
