6. The Black Eyed Peas Are the World's Last Vestige of Good Music
Super Bowl XLV, 2011 Performers: Black Eyed Peas Okay, so the show has extraordinary production value and The Black Eyed Peas are exactly the kind of music you'd expect to hear at a football stadium. But that doesn't make it right. Is this the sorry excuse for music we want to introduce to our children? I think Will.i.am says it best in the poetic lyric: "We be rockin' them beats." There is music that already exists, and then the Black Eyed Peas water it down endlessly to ensure maximum derivation. Even if you find the music agreeable, you have to wonder if Fergie was simply butchering karaoke to "Sweet Child of Mine." Oh wait, Slash is up there. Well at least we know he's officially dead on the inside for being a part of this atrocity. Slash, seriously, what the f&$%? The performance sparked us to ask if the Black Eyed Peas should perhaps be launched into the sun. We still think yes. Harsh? Well so is "My Humps" and Fergie's face.
