The Fuji Rock Festival

Where: Naeba Ski Resort, Mount Takenoko, Japan

The story behind the festival: The Fuji Rock Festival is perhaps the most well-known of the Asia music festival set. It began in 1997 at the base of Mt. Fuji but has since found a home in the Naeba Ski Resort area. Featuring over 200 Japanese and International musicians, this is the festival to truly immerse yourself in music of the rock and electro genres in a picturesque mountainous setting. Be warned though—this is a festival for the physically fit. The road to the campsite and to the 13 different entertainment areas (including Café de Paris) requires some serious hiking skills. Bring your wellies—rain and muddy terrains are part of this festival’s charm!

Past Acts: Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, Chemical Brothers, Basement Jazz

Line up highlights 2012: Radiohead

Dates: July 27 to 29, 2012
