3. A Pussy Riot member Yekaterina Samutsevich was freed on appeal. However, a Moscow court upheld prison sentences for the two other members. In an interview that aired Sunday Vladimir Putin defended the sentences by saying,
"It is right that they were arrested and it was right that the court took this decision because you cannot undermine the fundamental morals and values to destroy the country."[Huffington Post]
