5. Indelible Festival: Tribute to Gil Scott-Heron
Tonight at the Highline Ballroom some of Scott-Heron's colleagues, including
Questlove and Jimmy Scott, will be paying a tribute to the late Scott-Heron. Calling it the Indelible Festival, it was created and produced by the Jill Newman Productions.
The Grove Press is publishing a memoir about him called
The Last Holiday. It details his extensive involvement with the civil rights movement, including his tour with
Stevie Wonder to make Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a national holiday. [
