2. Solange Knowles is finally releasing her album.
2012 has been deemed as the year when pop music becomes "real." Along with five other female artists,
Solange Knowles is one of individual spear heading this movement. When talking about her album, a project she funded and managed herself, Knowles said,
There are a lot of songs about sex. It’s the kind of record you put on when your man is coming over, when you’re with your girls. There are songs that make you wanna dance because we were kind of partying our way through the record, but it’s very chill.
Knowles wants the album's sound to be a pop-soul feel, making references to older sounds and musicians while still remaining equally progressive. She has bee actively working with
Devonte “Dev” Hynes, Vincent Vendetta of the Midnight Juggernauts, Ariel Reichstadt and final edits with
Pharrell. [
