Edie Sedgwick
The pixie-like socialite may be best known as the silver-haired sidekick of Andy Warhol during the swingin' sixties, but her freewheeling fragility inspired more than just the artist's avant-garde films.
By late 1965, Edie became estranged from the Factory crowd and started living at the infamous Chelsea Hotel, where she developed a relationship with Bob Dylan. Though details of their time together have been contested, Edie was apparently left heartbroken when Dylan secretly married another woman. She nevertheless left quite the impression on the folk singer, whose 1966 album Blonde on Blonde was heavily inspired by the "poor little rich girl."
Songs said to be written about Edie: Bob Dylan's "Just Like A Woman," "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat," "Like A Rolling Stone," and The Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale."
