Stan Douglas, Disco Angola
What do Angola and disco have in common? Stan Douglas. The artist's upcoming photography exhibition at David Zwirner draws surprising parallels between the African culture and the New York disco scene. For the project, Douglas assumed the alter-ego of a photojournalist and staged scenes from the 1970s party scene in order to recapture the glamor of a bygone era.
