This Side of Paradise
When millionaire Andrew Freedman died in 1915, he bequeathed a large part of his fortune toward the building of a retirement home for New York's elite. Closed for decades, the mansion is finally re-opening to the public, and its ballrooms, library, and 20 bedrooms have been transformed by artists into site-specific installations, many of which incorporate found materials from the Home.
In the spirit of the occasion, there's even a Speakeasy After Party, where guests are encouraged to dress in 1920s attire and toast the night away with live musical and artistic performances.
