The Wall at Marlborough Chelsea

Also at the Marlborough Chelsea this month is The Wall, a group exhibition featuring contributions from Sebastian Black, David Brooks, Ara Dymond, Sam Falls, Brendan Lynch, Anna Plesset, Davina Semo, and Clive Smith. Challenging the gallery convention of the innocuous white wall which forces attention to the art placed upon it, this project flips the switch and makes the viewer focus on the wall instead. From Smith's oil painting of a white wall to Lynch's dusting of brightly-colored pigmentation—each artist's unique addition honors the structure of the gallery and the selflessness of the white wall, which all too often steps aside and allows Art to shine in the spotlight.
