Jason A. Maas, "Mounted Patrol"
So do you have a favorite piece?  As a curator, are you even allowed to have a favorite piece? JG: I love all of the artwork! No, they're all very different.  Some people have a more expressionistic depiction of form or they're photorealists or they use different mediums, so it's a very difficult question to answer. EG: I like the fact that the exhibition space is only accessible through the gallery gates, because you can see through them and that's a sort of negative space in itself. JG: That isn't intentional, but I think that you have the right idea that [the exhibition] makes you think of what else around you has subtraction in it.  Because there are so many things in life that are not created intentionally with [subtraction] in them, but they just happen to be that way. EG: So do you see the exhibition as expanding or moving elsewhere? JG:  Yeah, Ryan and I have discussed this idea of maybe taking it elsewhere... one day with abstract work that has the same idea [of subtraction].... We're playing with the idea and seeing what we can do with it - if there's interest there. Jason A.
