Escape To Old Havana At A Hemingway-Themed Bash In Brooklyn

by Stephanie Maida · July 16, 2019

The air was hot. The cigars were strong. Music sizzled in the air like a fish frying on an open flame.

Sorry, I was doing my best Ernest Hemingway impression in order to describe what's in store at Freehold's upcoming Hemingway Day party (lol). In honor of what would have been the iconic author's 120th birthday on July 21st, the Williamsburg hot spot will be transformed into Old Havana in Cuba, Hemingway's beloved haven later in life, and the country that inspired his Nobel Prize-winning novel, The Old Man and the Sea.

Held annually, the event features cigar-rolling, salsa dancing, live music, and charity casino games benefiting the local Los Sures Community Center. Indulge in Cuban cuisine and cocktails, provided by Bacardi, and live your own summer story as colorful as the Cuban city - and the life of Hemingway - itself. Typewriter not required.

Freehold, Sunday, July 21, 3 pm to 2 am; to attend email RSVP@freeholdbrooklyn.com
