Description
New York, August 2010 - The National Park Service and Statue Cruises have announced the final date for the public night tour of America's most iconic national monument. On one (1) Thursday night during August, Liberty Island will be open to the public. The 2010 Summer program, which follows two successful night tours offered last September during National Park Week, is a collaboration among the National Park Service, Statue Cruises and Evelyn Hill, Inc. The evening tour will be on August 19. There will be a limited amount of tickets available. Tickets for the Summer 2010 Night Tours are $35.00 (adults); $28.00 (seniors); $15.00 (children); and $7.50 (NPS Junior Ranger). Ferries will depart from Battery Park at the foot of Manhattan. Ticket prices include round trip ferry transportation, a full dinner on Liberty Island and interpretive programs offered on the island. Guests should arrive at Battery Park to check-in at 5:00 PM. Boats return from Liberty Island at 7:30 PM and at 8:30 PM. Visitors may spend as long as two hours on Liberty Island or return after one hour. The menu offers a full summer menu with a choice of burgers, wraps, salads, fish, sandwiches, corn on the cob and ice-cream. Visitors will be able to tour the grounds, but guests will not be allowed into the statue. "We're pleased to offer this unique opportunity for visitors to experience the spectacular scenery of Liberty Island and enjoy the New York City skyline at night," said Statue Cruises COO Mike Burke. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.statuecruises.com or by calling 877-523-9849
