President Ingeborg Rennert, Chairman of the Board Malcolm Thomson and Honorary Chairman Baron Robert de Rothschild will host their Annual American Friends of the Open University of Israel gala celebration on Monday, December 13, 2010 at The Plaza, Central Park South at 5th Avenue. Dinner is at 6:30 PM. Festive attire.
The night’s honorees include Director of the newly reconstructed Israel Museum James S. Snyder and Community Leaders Edward and Rebecca Sugar. General Shaul Mofaz, Member of Israel's Knesset (Parliament) and former government Minister, will receive the coveted Yigal Allon Award, named in honor of the late Deputy Prime Minister of Israel and former Minister of Education.
Proceeds benefit educational programs and scholarships for Israel's largest university. The Open University, located in Ra’anana, Israel, educates over 50,000 students. Soldiers in the field, immigrants, shut-ins, disabled, workers, housewives and the challenged receive Israel’s finest education in a flexible long-distance learning program.
