Reaves Gallery announces TOGETHER (again) featuring Blair Bradshaw and Rodney Durso
Bradshaw - currently based in San Francisco - returns to New York pairing with local artist Durso. Bradshaw’s assemblages each represent a single page from a book. Bradshaw best known for multi-media paintings has created intimate spaces where familiar phrases and theme find space to provoke new meaning. Bradshaw’s work was recently featured in Scientific America and an ad for Absolut Vodka.
In comparison, Durso's work focuses on themes referencing elements of pop-art, politics, current events and emotion. Themes of graphic design, typography and architecture relay throughout to construct the narratives. Durso works with mixed media, using methodologies including collage, decollage, monoprints, and chine-colle.
TOGETHER (again) is curated by Sharon R. Reaves of Reaves Gallery. Formerly of San Francisco, Reaves Gallery presents exhibitions and special projects for emerging artists in collaboration with galleries and alternative spaces in New York and San Francisco.
A reception is scheduled for the artists on Monday, July 19, 2010 between the hours of 6 to 9pm. The exhibition is on view Thursday, July 22 thru Saturday, July 31. Gallery hours are Thursday 1-8pm and Friday - Saturday 1-6pm, all other times by appointment.
