Think back to what your first birthday must have been like. Whether it was 21, 35, or 50 years ago, would anyone have imagined you’d be where you are today, the ’first’ to achieve something that no one else in your family, high school, or community ever has? At the She’s the First Soiree on November 1 in New York City, 7pm-10pm, at POP Burger on 14 East 58th St. in Manhattan, join She’s the First in celebrating the enormous potential we all have when given an education. She’s the First is celebrating its first birthday, a fulfilling year that sponsored 30+ girls’ educations in the developing world.
Tickets to the Soiree are now available at http://shesthefirstsoiree.eventbrite.com for $25 (’Party Guest’) and $111 (’She’s the First Patron’). The event will feature a one-hour open bar sponsored by Conundrum Winery, cupcakes and cake by GoodieBox Bakeshop, and will unveil the signature She’s the First fundraising bracelet, designed by Asha Patel and modeled by Billboard Top 40 artist JoJo. The bracelet, soon available for purchase online, will donate 20% of each $20 sale to sponsorships of girls in the She’s the First network.
Additional highlights of the party include a performance by the renowned Indian dance troop Infin8, praised by The New York Times as ’enchantingly chic,’ and music by DJ Kalkutta. There will be a photo booth, Live Tweets (using the hash tag #STFSoiree), remarks by special guests, a multimedia presentation, and fundraising raffle. Donated raffle items include designer fashions from Elizabeth and James, a Victoria’s Secret Beauty basket, Broadway show tickets, and more! Additional refreshments will be provided by POP Burger, Pop Chips, and Honest Tea.
Profits from ticket sales will fund the work of the She’s the First*{Campus} chapters, which do grassroots fundraising on college campuses for girls’ sponsorships, and 100% of raffle proceeds will benefit girls’ sponsorships at Shanti Bhavan, a school for the poorest children in India. A limited number of tickets are available; purchase in advance for the Early Bird deal: http://shesthefirstsoiree.eventbrite.com.
