Little Candles - Fundraising Event

Little Candles was formed by Consul Elena Maningat of the Philippine Consulate General New York with a group of friends. It coordinates small fundraising activities in New York to benefit Philippine-based charities working for the welfare and education of underprivileged children in the Philippines. Little Candles raised $2,000 for Ayala's CENTEX school's feeding program and held a Pacquio fight-night auction that raised $3,000 for Makabata School Foundation. Both fundraisers were coursed through the Ayala Foundation USA. According to Consul Maningat the goal of this fundraiser for PGH-CPU is "not simply to raise money on this one event but to raise awareness about these pressing concerns (on abuse and neglect of Filipino children), and hopefully people are inspired to help, if not through our group then on their own."
