The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA), led by Founder and Music Director Alondra de la Parra, will open the 2010-11 concert season with a performance featuring actor Chris Noth (The Good Wife, Sex and the City) as the narrator in Aaron Copland’s A Lincoln Portrait. Audiences will also have the opportunity to hear Mexican composer Carlos Chávez’s rarely-performed work, Caballos de Vapor Suite, in its entirety. A movement of the suite is included on Mi Alma Mexicana, De la Parra and POA’s debut recording for Sony Classical, which was released in August 2010 and is a bestseller in the United States and Mexico. Pulitzer and Grammy-winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s Concerto for Orchestra completes the concert.
