| Description |
Peter Spacek exhibits his first collection of art at Montauk’s Outeast Gallery from Saturday, September 11 to Thursday, September 23. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, September 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Spacek’s ’Salty Inky Fingers’ is an esoteric collection of work inspired by surf culture in what the artist describes as ’coastal goings on’. Known best for his cartoons, unveiling Hamptons’ life and its characters with an amusing twist, Spacek will sell for the first time, hand-colored prints of surfing cartoons from his recently published book, ’Surf and Mirth’. Alongside favorite scenes will be new and other bits of graphic whimsy for the water wise including pen and ink drawings on paper, stones and clams. Wave and seascape drawings from Spacek’s sketchbooks, documenting Montauk and surf travels abroad, will also be shown. Works of art range from $20 for clam art to $5000 for Spacek’s scrimshaw on pieces of surfboard.
