Moving Sounds Festival begins w/ Argento Ensemble

Georg Friedrich Haas (performed by the Argento Chamber Ensemble) - ATTHIS Octet Version, no singer In this piece, Haas sets to music Sappho's ancient and poetic declaration of love for her lover Atthis. The work, orchestrated for clarinet, bassoon, horn, and string quintet, is romantic in it's imagery, it's sense of suffering for love, and anxiety over separation, but as Haas himself describes: "This is unique in my works because it ends happily."
