---------------
DAVÍ is an uncanny talent.
As a choreographer, he's worked with R&B Singer, Ashanti (Def Jam); Electro-Pop group, Telephoned (Fool’s Gold); and Hip Hop/Electronica group, Cubic Zirconia (Fool’s Gold/Cry Baby) with whom he was featured on Fox's Fearless TV, toured and choreographed 2 music videos.
He is also the choreographer of the upcoming 2011 Lionsgate comedy feature film, We the Peeples, where he individually choreographed such talents as Kerry Washington, Craig Robinson, David Alan Grier, Tyler James Williams, and Melvin Van Peebles.
Now, DAVÍ presents his music of the genre he’s entitled afro.electro.funk; a dynamic form of music which can only be likened to a theoretical genre-demolishing, politically-charged, soulful child of electronica icon, M.I.A. and funk pioneer, George Clinton.
Upon the release DAVÍ's first single, "That Thump (New Music In Yo Ear)," blog worlds were set ablaze. On blogs such as MommyWarbucks.com, GreedmontPark.com and ThePrettyDope.com, Daví has been compared to everyone from Prince to Bootsy Collins to Chromeo and has been deemed "one of the finest talents of our days," (TwistedJazz.blogspot.com)”. That Thump (New Music In Yo Ear) samples production from DâM FunK’s "Killdat aka Killdatmuthafu*ka" and received a nod of approval from the FunK-man himself.
(You'll find a FREE DOWNLOAD of "That Thump (New Music In Yo Ear)" at his website, http://bydavi.com/ !!)
His wildly exciting electronic press kit, " The Daví Torrent" (http://www.youtube.com/wat”ch?v=7vwuQ-OCilI) is so impressive, Blaxploitation creator and film legend, Melvin Van Peebles calls it, "the real deal, sensational and gripping."
DAVÍ in many ways presents a merging of evolutionary music, visual absorption and social responsibility, all in one titilating package. On August 24th at R Bar, you can expect the electrically unexpected.
LOOK OUT FOR THE NEXT NYC SHOW OCT 4TH AT DROM... WITH A SPECIAL GUEST ?????!
