Citi Pond at Bryant Park is launching its inaugural Winter Film Festival, a four-week series offering a larger than life showing of winter-inspired movies, free-to-the-public. The series will kick-off on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 5:00 p.m. with a Family Event and showing of Warner Brother’s movie ’Happy Feet,’ and continuing every subsequent Monday at 6:30 p.m. from Jan. 24 - Feb 14.
"Happy Feet" is an extremely popular animated film, with great music about a tap dancing penguin who goes on a quest, stars Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy and Hugh Jackman. (Warner Bros, 2006, directed by George Miller)
The movies will be shown on a 900-square-foot screen located near the 6th Avenue entrance to the Citi Pond ice rink (Sixth Avenue and 41st St. by the Bryant Park Fountain), allowing the movie to be viewed by Citi Pond ice skaters, Celsius dinner guests and guests surrounding the rink and on the upper terrace of Citi Pond by the Bryant Park monument.
Viewers are encouraged to snuggle in and bring blankets and sleeping bags and will also enjoy hot beverages and warm comfort treats provided by Celsius via servers throughout the shows. Coca Cola samplings as well as hot beverages include: Hot Chocolate and Apple Cider and cocktails such as ’Snowcap,’ an alcohol-infused hot chocolate including Absolut Vanilia and Peppermint Kahlua topped with whipped cream, chocolate flakes and marshmallows. Hot treats include: sliders, fries and popcorn.
