As part of Trinity Wall Street’s 17 Days Festival, artist Muriel Stockdale will begin creating a 12-foot-wide community flag commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11 on Tuesday, June 14th from 12:00pm-8:00pm at Charlotte’s Place. The community is invited to contribute by bringing cloth to be used in assembling the memorial, expected to be completed by August. At 6:30 pm, there will be a wine and cheese party with Stockdale as she discusses ’E Pluribus,’ her United States flag series. E Pluribus expresses the many colors of patriotism found every day in the United States. Stockdale’s flags are exquisitely handcrafted in the USA from typical fabrics representing the diverse cultures that make up our American mosaic. Admission is free and open to the public.
Stockdale is a longtime instructor at New York University’s School of the Arts, Graduate Design Department.
Charlotte’s Place is a new gathering space in Lower Manhattan. Open to everyone, it is supported and operated by Trinity Wall Street, an Episcopal parish in the city of New York.
