Description
New York - May 11, 2011: What art area of the world did Picasso, Modigliani, Brancusi, and Matisse all study when developing their craft? What did they acquire for inspiration? African Art. In celebration of Tribal Art Week in New York City, African Art at Madison is pleased to showcase 19th and early 20th century art pieces from traditional cultures of West, Central, South & East Africa in a three floor townhouse gallery across from the Whitney Museum at 75th Street and Madison Avenue. The exhibition has been curated by a collective of galleries: Young Robertson African Art (New York), PM Boyd Fine African Art (Seattle), Amyas Naegele Fine Art (New York), James Stephenson African Art (New York) and Fily Keita African Art (Los Angeles and Paris). The pop-up gallery will be open from Tuesday, May 10th — Sunday, May 15th. More than 150 fine art objects including furniture, miniature sculptures, and architectural pieces will be for sale. Where will you find your muse?
