He Started It: The 52nd Street Project’s Thirtieth Anniversary Gala will feature songs dedicated to founder Willie Reale. Lyrics by Project kids will be set to music and performed by professional artists. The program, hosted by Lewis Black, with reminiscences by Frances McDormand, will feature the work of lyricists Nicholas Carrero, Edelys Tiana Guerrero, Genesis Hires, Haley Zoe Martinez and Malik Velazquez, and composers Michael Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls), Rob Reale (Frog and Toad), Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), and Abigail Washburn and Bela Fleck. Performers include Lisa Benavides and Tim Blake Nelson, Renee Elise Goldsberry (Good People), Duncan Sheik, and Abigail Washburn and Bela Fleck. The Music Director is Alex Lacamoire and the Director is Jonathan Bernstein.
