On Wednesday, May 11, 2011 New York City Ballet will hold its annual Spring Gala at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. One of the most anticipated social events of the season, the evening will include an elegant cocktail reception on the promenade of the theater followed by a special one-time-only gala performance. This year’s performance will feature the world premiere of a new production of The Seven Deadly Sins choreographed by Lynne Taylor-Corbett and starring Broadway legend Patti LuPone in her NYCB debut. A sung ballet in seven scenes, The Seven Deadly Sins was first choreographed by George Balanchine in 1933 and tells the story of a character named Anna, who is portrayed by both a singer and a dancer. This new production of the work will feature choreography by Taylor-Corbett, scenic designs by Beowulf Boritt, lighting by Jason Kantrowitz and costumes by Judanna Lynn. Also on the program will be George Balanchine’s Vienna Waltzes.
Following the performance, guests will attend an elegant black-tie Supper Ball on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater.
