Nuit Blanche Presents Flashlight: Art Happening

For one night only beginning at 8:00 p.m. on May 7, Flash:Light (www.Flashlightnyc.org) will transform the iconic New York City neighborhood of Mulberry Street into a spectacular nighttime environment of temporary, site-specific public art. The evening’s highlight will be the world premier of Equation of Time, a fully animated light installation by multi-media artist Jeff Grantz who re-envisions the façade of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, the country’s oldest cathedral, into a larger-than-life transparent timepiece incorporating Audemars Piguet watch movements within the gears and mechanisms. This ground-breaking 3-D projection is the result of collaborations between Grantz, the Monsignor of the New York City Archdiocese and Audemars Piguet Switzerland.
