| Description |
The Neighborhood Classics concert series will hold its final performance of the season. The talented teenagers of Face the Music will perform a program of works that represent what they like best about new music now. Judd Greenstein’s What They Don’t Like recalls the early hip-hop era, complete with sampler and screechy violin; Gregory Huebner’s Cuban Impressions brings the sounds of Latin jazz to the stage; and Jacob TV’s Syracuse Blues pairs a string quartet with the cries of a forlorn Italian fishmonger. Other works on the program will include a recent quartet by Missy Mazzoli (Death Valley Junction) and a gospel-tinged chamber piece by Paul Schoenfield (High Rock Ballet). As always, the students of Face the Music will talk about the pieces they play and will happily take questions from the audience at the end of the program. All ticket sales will benefit PS 142.
