Visionary nightlife photographer, Seth Browarnik, will exhibit his work for the first time during Art Basel Miami Beach with a five daylong display at the newly renovated Shelborne Hotel. Having launched his career in Miami Beach over a decade ago, Browarnik’s artistic point of view has been unequivocally shaped by the city’s sultry spirit. Browarnik, who has since covered nightlife all over the world, is famous for always seeking out that which is sexy and wild in his subjects — a process that he calls “looking for the Miami energy” in his photos. Now, in the city that first inspired him, Browarnik will unveil a series of never-before-seen portraits and candids of the glitterati from the inside. Curated by Rachel K. Ward, Browarnik’s Art of Night collection captures the last fifteen years of fame and fashion in forty-five frames.
Karl Lagerfeld, Yoko Ono, Jay Z, Dennis Hopper, Daphne Guinness and Michael Jackson are just a few of the icons on display in Art of Night. The collection shows a slice of celebrity life that often goes unseen while also portraying the passage of time and the evolution of pop culture. The photos expose moments of debauchery, of excess, of frantic backstage preparation, of pure unadulterated elation, of undeniable adoration. At Art of Night guests can get a glimpse at it all, and walk away with a piece of it.
The Art of Night exhibit will officially open in tandem with the relaunch of the Shelborne South Beach Resort on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 9am. It will remain on display through Sunday, December 4, 2011. Shelborne South Beach Resort is located at 1801 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida. This grand, deco gem boasts a retro ambience and sexy décor, evoking all the nostalgia of golden era Miami Beach, while treating guests to modern, amenity-rich luxury.
