On Friday, November 11th, Rachelle Garniez will celebrate the release of her latest album, Sad-Dead-Alive-Happy out Tuesday, November 8th with a special show at NYC’s Dixon Place.
This new collection of original songs features Garniez's signature blend of humor, heartbreak and philosophical musings. Stand out tracks on the album include the opener, "Jean-Claude Van Damme", which speaks about coping with bipolar disorder, as well as "My House of Peace", produced by Jack White, "Lunasa" recorded and performed by Karen Elson, and "Just Because You Can" recorded and performed by Catherine Russell.
Trading in her accordion for piano and keyboards, Rachelle is accompanied by Dave Hofstra on acoustic bass (Microscopic Septet, the Waitresses, Earl King, Elliot Sharp) and Ben Perowsky on drums (Lounge Lizards, Millenial Territory Orchestra, Joan as Policewoman). The sonic palette of the recording is classic and warm; American grooves off-set lyrical subtlety.
