It is the 25 Year Anniversary celebration of the most famous play in World Series History…..Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. Mets vs Red Sox. The hopes of a Mets' World Series victory all but faded away with two outs, nobody on base and down two runs. Consecutive two-out hits remarkably tied the score at 5-5. The stage had now been set. With the winning run on 2nd base, Mets' Centerfielder Mookie Wilson hits a slow roller up the 1st base line for what should have been the final out of the Inning. Somehow, someway the ball got through All-Star Bill Buckner's legs and allowed Ray Knight to score the winning run. The Mets would go on to win Game 7, also coming from behind. The two players: Mookie Wilson and Bill Buckner, now live in infamy for the most famous play in World Series history.
25 years to the day of this historic moment, Grandstand will be coordinating a fundraiser to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of New York. We will have an open bar and great hors d'oeuvres with bowling open all night long. Attendees will receive autographs from both players, who will also partake in a Q & A session. It is certainly going to be an incredible night!
