Description
BLACKOUT Haunted House is easily the most terrifying experience this Halloween season — and you have no choice but to go through it alone. Called "the extreme theater event of the year" by The New York Times, it will "titillate, unsettle, and generally mess with your mind." The immersive horror attraction now in its third year (formerly known as NYC Haunted House), opens Saturday, October 1 at 54 West 39th Street and thrusts visitors (adults, only) up against their most primal fears — tight spaces, intensely violent and sexual situations, and complete and utter darkness, armed with nothing more than a flashlight, a protective facemask, and their own heartbeat. BLACKOUT Haunted House, presented by Vortex Productions, plays twisted mind games that will undoubtedly disturb, shock, and exhilarate even the most extreme fright fanatics. Each passage through lasts 20-30 minutes, and no two are ever the same — this isn't your father's haunted house. Fangoria called it a "finely tuned tour de force in terror and an absolute must for horror enthusiasts in the New York City area." Time Out New York added, only half-kidding, "better bring a change of pants." New York Innovative Theater Awards nominated the event "Outstanding Performance Art Piece" in 2009/2010.
