Music at the Anthology (MATA) will honor Ara Guzelimian and Steven Schick at their annual benefit gala on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2011 at the Chelsea Art Museum.
The event will feature a number of special guests, including David Lang, and performances by Maya Beiser, Joan La Barbara, Steven Schick and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). Music by Chinary Ung, John Cage, Brian Ferneyhough and Philip Glass. A silent auction, on-going throughout the evening, including:
* Art by Christian Marclay, Melodie Provenzano, Eve Biddle, Timothy Hutchings, Tim Davis, Kanishka Raja, Anna Schuleit and more
* A custom-composed song by Nico Muhly, on a text of your choice
* A private home-concert with downtown diva Joan La Barbara
* Priceless, signed, original musical sketches by composers Louis Andriessen, Robert Ashley, William Bolcom, Salvatore Sciarrino, Steven Stucky and more
* Plus items donated by Philip Glass, the New York Philharmonic, Beth Morrison Projects, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Kronos Quartet, Vivian Perlis, Robert Wilson, Antoinette Chocolatier, and the Anthology Film Archives.
All proceeds support commissions and performances of new works by young composers during MATA’s 2012 Festival of New Music.
