New York Magazine to Host Culinary Event Highlighting Global Cuisine

New York magazine’s 13th annual signature culinary event, New York Taste: A World of Flavors, will be held Monday November 7, 2011 at Skylight in New York City. This year, the New York magazine signature event will be transformed into a global bazaar of food and flavors, celebrating the international influences found within the city’s most creative restaurants. Tickets for the event, which benefits City Harvest to help fight hunger, are on sale at nymag.com/taste. A perennially sold-out event and highlight of the fall culinary calendar, this year’s New York Taste will emphasize global cuisine like never before, with more than 40 of the city’s most influential chefs, restaurateurs and mixologists, organized by global region of cuisine on the main event floor, offering tastings of their signature dishes and drinks. New York culinary editor Gillian Duffy is curating the event, selecting the most globally diverse “menu” in the event’s history, and the event website features an interactive global map highlighting culinary facts from each region represented at the event. Chefs signed on for the main event include Marcus Samuelsson of Red Rooster Harlem (Modern American), Joe Ng of Chinatown Brasserie (China), Zakary Pelaccio of Fatty Crab (Malaysia), Dan Barber of Blue Hill (Modern American), and Shaun Hergatt of SHO Shaun Hergatt (Australia). The event will host more than 1,000 guests, with VIP tickets costing $250 and general admission tickets costing $175. Official Sponsors of the event include Bordeaux Wines, Cadillac, and Spring44 Spirits, with Participating Sponsor Stella Artois and Media Sponsor Chow.com. Spring44 Spirits, the only American-made ultra premium handcrafted spirits made with Colorado Rocky Mountain artesian water, will be unveiling their signature holiday season cocktails for Spring44 Vodka, Honey Vodka and Gin at the event, created by Contemporary Cocktails’ Aisha Sharpe and Tim Cooper. Bordeaux will showcase a wide array of the region's finest wines, with appellations for every occasion. Cadillac will present the 2011 CTS-V Coupe—a stunning, high-performance sport coupe with overt styling and extraordinary capability on the road, with an Eaton-supercharged and intercooled 6.2L V8 engine that generates a massive 556 horsepower and 551 lb.-ft. of torque.
