A native of the Caribbean region of Colombia, cradle of the Cumbia and Vallenato rhythms, percussionist/composer/ arranger/producer Wolfgang Barros fell in love with the indigenous musical culture of his homeland at a very early age. He mastered the intricacies of Afro-Colombian drumming as a student of the legendary master of folkloric percussion named Paulino ’Batata’ Salgado. His talents led him to perform with the National Ballet of Colombia for a period of ten years, and as a result, he introduced Afro-Colombian drumming traditions to diverse audiences throughout the globe.
A’Pura Madera showcases Afro-Colombian styles and rhythms. Barros and his band,
of professional musicians share the same goal of providing diverse audiences with an interactive, festive and educational experience while promoting Colombian Culture.
