Liza Minnelli & David Gest

Liza Minnelli & David Gest
It should come as no surprise that famously flamboyant Liza Minnelli's 2002 wedding to music producer David Gest is often compared to the Grammy's. On March 16th, the couple was wed at NYC's Marble Collegiate Church in front of 850 of their closest friends and family. Their 36-person bridal party included Michael Jackson as the best man and Elizabeth Taylor as the maid of honor. Natalie Cole sang "Unforgettable" as Minnelli walked down the aisle with a bouquet of white roses in a sparkling dress. This was Minnelli's fourth wedding, but Gest's first. No expense was spared on these nuptials that reportedly cost 3.5 million dollars. Minnelli said she wanted the reception to be close to Ground Zero to show the world that the neighborhood was very much alive and thriving. The reception was almost more of a concert than a reception, with 54 acts. Tony Bennett, Donny Osmond, and Stevie Wonder all took the stage. For dessert, they enjoyed a 6-feet tall, 12-tiered wedding cake. After dessert, guests danced until 1AM. On the way out, they received gourmet boxes of chocolate embossed with "Liza and David 4 Ever." Unfortunately, the couple separated a year later, and their messy divorce was finalized in 2007.
